Are You Summer Ready?

Are You Summer Ready?

By Dominic Hefferan on Nov 21 2018

With only a little over a week to go until the official start of summer, every Queenslander starts to think about how they can keep cool and comfy during the scorching temperatures that return each year. But you don't have to just crank the air con and hide in a pool to beat the heat, and today we're looking at the three best ways to survive the summer.

Bring on the Breeze

It seems simple, but a lot of people just don't think to open windows and doors during the day. Take advantage of any natural ventilation in your place before turning on the air conditioning, and you could be surprised by just how much cooler you can make your home, not to mention how much you can save on your energy bill.

You'll be Mist

But you'll still want to keep cool on days when there's no breeze, so consider buying a spray bottle. It might sound a bit silly, but misting even a small amount of water on your face and arms (not enough to get you soaked), can help keep you cool and stop you feeling sticky and grimy when the temperatures start to rise.

Your Biggest Fan

If all else fails, try using a fan before turning on the air conditioning. Fans use between 1/25th to 1/50th of even a small air conditioner, and these days you can even find fans with a built-in mister to disperse water vapour into the atmosphere and lower the temperature even more.

Of course, having the right home with the right design for your environment is always the best idea, and we've got a property for everyone, so call us today to see what we can do for you!
